Honors 210: American Sabor

I absolutely loved this final. Initially, when I heard it was an open-ended final, I was hesitant and unsure of what to do. I soon realized I could incorporate visual elements instead of a podcast or audio recording. I soon realized I could incorporate my passion of design with education, and added both visual and auditory elements to my project. This final is reflective of my learning in a course I didn't feel like I could initially succeed in.

ENGL 282: Multimodal Composition

English 282 was an absolutely fabulous class. It was an multimodal intermediate composition class. Throughout the course, our professor consciously worked too dismantle the power structure in classrooms that leads students to creating work tailored to the professor's tastes. We had a grading contract to further reinforce the dismantling of this structure, and our work was very independent or group focused. Through this, I was able to continue to pursue my passion of design in my projects, and creating a finished product I throughly enjoyed being able to create something that was important to me, and learned about myself in the process. I learned that much of my learning and brainstorming occurs in discussion with my peers, and I will definitely be using that as I progress in the rest of my academic journey.

Honors 232B: Reproductive Justice

The truth about environmental racism. For Honors 232B, Reproductive Justice: this was a cumulative research project that focused on environmental racism, particularly where it is being examined, areas where it could be expanded. I enjoyed creating this project, particularly the way it allowed me to combine my passion for graphic design with a topic I am passionate about.

Honors 220C: Science, Technology, and Inequality

Within Science, Technology and Inequality, we focused our examination of different ways our employment of tech within society facilitates the upholding of colonial structures and discrimination. For the final, I wrote a paper focusing on the "optimization of technology, specifically search engines and large language models" and how they "both perpetuate marginalization in communities by reinforcing imperialistic and colonialistic structures, while simultaneously offering the potential to dismantle these systems and promote equity when strategically leveraged". "My goals are to interrogate the systems of power that operate within these systems, as well as ways they can be dismantled."
